Hi Carl,

Thank you for the work you did on my Remington 700. I got to spend some time at the range last weekend and it shot great. Some specifics:

  1. The packing was excellent
  2. Workmanship is excellent
  3. Fit and finish excellent
  4. Accuracy is amazing – I did the one shot clean the barrel 5 times and after that my first 3 shot group was .25” That is the best group I have ever shot.

I couldn’t be happier Carl. Thank you and Merry Christmas

Carl,
Good morning. This email has been a while coming and I apologize for not writing sooner. I want to thank you for the great job you did on rebarreling my 7600 to .358 Win. as well as the trigger job. The rifle looks and shoots beautifully. I shot some Buffalo Bore 225 grain .358 ammo through it but apparently that ammo is loaded somewhat on the "hot" side because after each shot I have to struggle with the slide to get the bolt open. I am trying to get some Hornady 200 gr. ammo but everybody seems to be sold out. I guess with hunting season upon us the ammo is surprisingly popular. Once I get some I'll try it out and let you know how it goes. Thanks again and Happy Holidays.

Subject: Re: Mini-14 Trigger Question

Good evening,

I received my Mini-14 trigger back in the mail today. I had you do the basic trigger job, and lighten the safety disengagement. I just wanted to let you know that I am very impressed! The trigger is exceptional in feel compared to what I sent you. My favorite trigger is the factory two-stage on my Weatherby Vanguard. I think your trigger feels just the same, maybe even better. Also, the safety was done perfectly, easy to disengage but still feels like a safe amount of resistance. You do great work! Thank you very much.

Subject: Mini-14 Kudos

Hi, Carl.

I've finally broken in the Mini-14 you customized for me, and it shoots great. It likes Frontier 55 gr. FMJ, which only cost 30 cents per round (700 rounds, including shipping). It groups at 3/4 MOA, and this it actually better than the HP Match and the 68 gr. BTHP Match. I'm sure I could find more expensive ammo that groups better, but 3/4" is good enough for me since I just use it for plinking - especially considering the reasonable price. I worked up through several brands of cheaper ammo that did not group as well (1.25 to 3 inches) before settling on the Frontier. This rifle is not finicky like my AR, and it is more durable and easier to clean, making it my go-to plinker. Thanks again for your great customer service and quality work.

Subject: Barrel stabilizer First Impressions

Yesterday I tested my Mini-14 with a newly installed Accuracy Systems HBS II and adjustable gas block. Rifle had been previously sighted in at 100 yards. First rounds with stabilizer hit 6 to seven inches high. Scope adjustment too care of that.

Prior to stabilizer installation I had fired four different loads from bench rest.

Load 1 Sierra 63 grain over 25 grains H4895
Load 2 Remington 55 grain FMJ over 25 grains Varget
Load 3 Winchester 64 grain over 25 grains H4895
Load 4 Factory SS109 NATO Green Tip

Load 1 showed significant improvement, group size reduced from 4 inch average to 2 inch average
Load 2 showed similar improvement, 4 inch average down to 2 inch average.
Load 3 no significant change, 3 inch groups before and after stabilizer installation.
Load 4 I can only call this junk ammo. It doesn't do well in any of my .223s.

Overall, I am quite satisfied with the stabilizer. It easily met your claims for accuracy improvement.

I did not make any changes to the gas block adjustment, leaving it as you had set it. Empties went all over the place, some as close as 3 feet others as far as 20 feet. Will see if this condition settles down before making any adjustments.

Thank you Eugene

Carl,

I wanted to reach out and thank you for the excellent products that I recently installed on the Ruger Ranch Mini-14. Enhanced Recoil Spring (was a bear to install but works as described), Recoil Buffer Pads (only used one, the other is a spare), and the Gas Bushing. As described, the brass is near my feet and no longer 20 feet at 2'oclock. With your products installed, I feel the rifle is close to optimal for the Mini-14.

Thank you again.

Good day, I’m wondering if this type of gas leakage is normal or considered acceptable with your product? See that the gas is also leaking from behind the Allen bolts (both L and R sides) as well as the adjusting screw. Thanks in advance, Seán

Hello, Yes it is normal due to the high pressure behind the screw. The threads tolerance has to be where the threads do not carbon up which would cause the screw freeze up. Use WD 40 or equal to clean then if you keep a light coating of grease when you are done shooting powder residue will wipe off.

Thank you,

Thanks for the prompt reply Carl. I’m reassured that I have it together properly and all is normal. The HBSII strut is great btw, I can keep groups in a 2” at 100 m no matter the barrel temp…and brass isn’t flying wildly all over the place.

Thanks again, keep up the great work!

This was my first order from you folks and It will not be my last. I wish others conducted business like you.

Subject: Rifle information.

Hello Carl, 5/28/2019

Just a quick question: A few years ago you modified my Mini-14. I wanted your advice for what bi-pod to put on the rifle. I'm guessing that you still have the info on how you guys configured the rifle but if not I can email you a photo if that would help. I've researched some Harris bi-pods that I think would probably work but wanted to get your advice. By the way the rifle is absolutely phenomenal. I have a great Leupold scope on the gun that magnifies up to 25x so with your match grade barrel I can pretty much hit a quarter 250 yards out. Please let me know if you need more info or a photo of the rifle.

Thank you and hope all is well!!

Hi,
I just wanted to let yall know how surprised I am with my Mini 14 hand guard order. I expected to have to sand the thing down in spots, but it really fits perfectly. Quality work can be hard to find these days. My only gripe would be the price, but you get what you pay for I guess. I wanna get a barrel stabilizer next. Give the boys at the shop a raise.
Thanks,

Carl,

ASI Target Stock looks great! Couldn't be happier. Fit and finish are excellent.

This thing is designed and fabbed to perfection.

I knew the laminate would be heavy so i foresaw the single downside, but for a table gun that may be a good thing.

Thanks again for the help.

Hi Carl-

I finally got your Mini 14 build to the range today. It's an absolute work of art. incredibly accurate and smooth shooting. i mounted an SWFA SS 10x42 fixed power scope which can handle the harsh forward recoil impulse of the mini without issue.

Subject: My Mini - 14

Hi Carl,

I don’t know if I ever thanked you for the work your shop did on my Mini-14, or not; but THANK YOU.

I had to get a new Vortex 1-8x24 Scope before I started getting nice groups, with everything I was shooting. Finally last summer the windage went bad, so I just sent the scope off for repairs. I would have did that sooner, but the wife was in the hospital 5 times during the fall season.

Anyway, I could not disassemble the rifle without taking the rear scope ring nut off as the little cap head bolt would hit the nut before it came all the way out of the stock. With the scope in for repairs, I filed the screwdriver part of the nut off and milled the nut so I could tighten it with a socket driver. As I didn’t have the correct equipment for the flats, I did have to dress it up with a file. Now it works great.

I had called your shop, and the person I talked with said, “We just remove the nut when we disassemble, and replace it when everything is back together.”

I’m thinking you have the correct equipment to hold the nut while you shorten it, and the correct equipment to turn the nut for the flats, and to the correct size.

My picture didn’t come out real good, but I think you can get the idea of what I did.

Subject: Pete's Ruger Mini 14 Story

Good Morning Carl,

I just wanted to say good things about your products and your service.

Here are some pics of my Mini-14 before & after - its a post-581 serial number series with a bushnell red dot optic (I retained use of the iron sights under the rail system).

Also attached are some pics of when I confirmed the zero the other night - 6-round groups at 25 meters. I shoot 6-round groups versus 3- because when you take out the flyers you get a better idea of where your group is at; the Mini-14 shoots dime-sized groups now. The 6-round groups on the smaller diamonds are using the red dot, the 6-round group in the large diamond in the center is with iron sights. I haven't taken it out on my land yet - I will do so today, engaging targets out to 300 meters.

I also want to thank you for helping me achieve a lifelong dream: way back in '82 (year before I joined the Army) a friend of mine had a Ruger Mini-14, tricked out with a stainless steel ventilated handguard and a 30-round magazine. I wanted one, but didn't have the money. Over the years, I acquired a Mini-14, and it was my vision to transform it to resemble an M-14, but had to part with it.

Finally in 2012 I got a new one - the 581-series model I now own. I'm glad I waited because the new Mini-14's are a better rifle than the originals. But I was so busy with contracting work overseas, I had no time for hobbies. Last year I fully retired; now I get to play with my toys. I picked up a part-time job at a gun store/range operation and this finances my gun habit. That is when I looked up your system on the internet and began this odyssey.

It has taken me 35+ years to realize this dream, and your company played a big part of it. Already many people at my work are showing interest in your products. Thanks for working with me, and best wishes for the New Year.

Cheers,
Pete

To whom it may concern,

Received my package...assembled the weapon...had a problem with it.

Wrote an email. Got a call next day from Carl and he offered to stay on the line and talk me thru addressing the issue.

His fix worked perfectly...and I want to tell you how much I appreciated your support and Carl’s efforts, technical skills, and dedication. I was excited to get the parts...disappointed when I came across the problem...then pleased and appreciative to get it straightened out so quickly and easily.

Thanks...well done to Carl.
